- We have just recieved word that the current appeal of the MOVE 9 was
- turned down in late January. People must understand that all of the
- recent attacks on MOVE and Mumia are connected with the aim of diverting
- people from the real issues at hand. Within a short period of time
- Mumia’s February 11th court hearing was cancelled, the media then spent
- days attempting to discredit Mumia with slander in the papers and on the
- air regarding the controversy over Mayor Street giving the French
- Delegation for Mumia liberty bells, then on 2/21 FOX News ran stories
- trying to convince the public that MOVE is guilty of the murder of John
- Gilbride and now we find out that all the while they turned down the appeal of the
- MOVE 9.
- People must not lose sight of the real issue here. This is a tactic that
- this system has used throughout history;to divide people’s energy into
- many categories so that when it comes time to fight against this system
- people are divided and power is weakened. Because of the wisdom of *
- JOHN AFRICA * supporters of MOVE will not allow them to divert us from
- the real issues here. The MOVE 9 shouldn’t be in prison, Mumia shouldn’t
- be in prison and this year marks twenty yearssince the gov’t dropped a
- bomb on MOVE on May 13th of 1985. They are scared as hell of the power
- of all of us coming together to take one stand against them so we must
- see that this is all one issue. What they have done and what they are
- attempting to do is the very same thing that this government did to AIM,
- the Black Panthers and far beyond. To try to tire people out with one
- thing after another so that they will give up. We must see this for what
- it really is, a desperate attempt to grab for anything to try to stop
- the movement which continues to build. We must not lose sight of the
- fact that Mumia’s case is now at a more critical point than ever, that
- they just denied the appeal of nine innocent people who have been in
- prison over 26 years and that this year marks 20 years since this
- government dropped a bomb on MOVE May 13th,1985 murdering 11 innocent
- MOVE people and burning 62 homes to thground. We will keep the pressure
- on Judge Dembe, FOX news, Mayor Street, keep the pressure on the courts
- about the MOVE 9 and continue to build for the mass demonstration on May
- 14th!

- This morning Tony Allen, a man who at one time appeared to support MOVE
- and Mumia and now campaigns to imprison and kill MOVE people and Mumia,
- was on the MichaelSmerconish radio show on 1210 am. This man has been
- hijacking people’s email lists,spreading lies on the radio and on the
- front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer, pressuring venuesto not allow
- Mumia or MOVE supporters to hold events and admittedly working with the
- Burlington County Prosecutors stooping to the lowest of levels to get
- attention and cause destruction. But really this is not about Tony
- Allen, he is just another pawn recycling the same batch of lies that
- people have heard for decades now. People must understand that all of
- the recent attacks on MOVE and Mumia are connected with the aim of

- forth nonsense. It was just two months ago that Allen stated “I care
- very little for most of the voices and ideologues who are on the right
- bank of the American political scene. I am not friends with, nor have I
- ever met the likes of Michael Smerconish” but now he has become buddy
- buddy with him to work towards their common goal of having Mumia killed.
- We must continue to unify regardless of differences to stand for justice
- and keep pushing through these distractions. Keep the pressure on Judge
- Dembe!

- * Sue Africa’s Statement on the Prejudice of Radio Host Michael Smerconish *
- Today, March 2nd on Channel 1210am Michael Smerconish exposed hisself to
- be a prejudiced bigot who does not want to hear the truth. I was on
- Smerconish’s show today, supposedly, to be given equal time to refute
- the slanderous lies government infiltrator, Tony Allen put out about
- MOVE on the previous days’ show, Tues. March 1st. The first few minutes
- I was on the show all Smerconish did was try to divert the issue from
- Tony’s lies to filler questions. When Smerconish saw he couldn’t do that
- and I was in fact exposing Tony for being a liar he started cutting me
- off and attempted to overtalk me, something I was assured by his program
- director, T.C., wouldn’t happen. Smerconish acts like he is personally
- involved in this issue, he’s not impartial, his show is prejudiced. The
- question people need to ask here is what is there about what MOVE is
- saying that is so threatening to Smerconish.; Tony Allen says he won’t
- debate MOVE publicly, face to face, because MOVE threatened him.
- Smerconish ain’t sayin he’s being threatened by MOVE so why can’t he let
- us talk. Why is it that as soon as I started refuting Tony’s lies I was
- cut off, where was the equal time? Smerconish never once cut Tony Allen
- off the day before; he let him say his fill. This ain’t fair, it’s
- prejudice. People are always demanding MOVE substantiate ourselves but
- as soon as we do that people cut us off, call for security guards, cops,
- have us put out or arrested. What this system usually hides
- behind is sayin MOVE uses so called profanity but there was no profanity
- on today’s show, there was no hollerin, and no terroristic threats
- issued, so what is their excuse now. Smerconish doesn’t wasnt to hear
- the truth. People are alway’s sayin they wanna hear the truth, well
- here’s the truth and people are runnin from it. It’s obvious from
- Smerconish’s tuck tail and run attitude that he is not an honest,fair
- minded man seeking the truth. How can anybody believe or trust anything
- Smerconish says. He has repeatedly said on his show that he feels Mumia
- had a fair trial, but after showing all this prejudice and bias towards
- me today for simply defending my belief against lies, for simply telling
- the truth – how can Smerconish be believed about anything. He wasn’t
- fair with me today. Where was the equal time promised? Michael
- Smerconish ain’t honest, ain’t fair minded and can’t be trusted or
- believed about anything he says, which definetly includes his prejudice
- opinion that Mumia had a fair trial.

- It has come to my attention that on 2/21 and 2/22 FOX 29 news reporter, DavidSchratweiser, in a “breaking news story”, reported that Maple Shade, NJ policeare working with Philadelphia, PA police and are on the verge of solving
- the murder of John Gilbride.

- All throughout the broadcast they were showing images of members of the MOVE Organization,insinuating that MOVE was involved in this man’s death. This report is part of a long history of media manipulation aimed at convincing the public thatMOVE people are wrong. No person in the MOVE Organization had anything to do with themurder of John Gilbride; this goes completely contrary to the belief of MOVE. Furthermore,the FOX report was filled with blatant lies including their statement that NJ police are workingwith Philadelphia police. On 2/23/05 Philadelphia police commissioner Sylvester Johnsonstated on the record that the Philadelphia police are not working on the case at all, that over 2years ago they were in communication but there were no leads so there was no reason for themto be involved in a NJ case.

- On 2/21 and 2/22 Fox News reporter David Schratweiser ran a story that Philadelphia andSouth Jersey police were ready to solve the murder of John Gilbride. Throughout the segmentimages of MOVE and its supporters were shown inferring that MOVE is implicated inGilbride’s murder. Pam Africa investigated these allegations-Philadelphia police commissioner Sylvester Johnson told her that FOX news lied. He said that the PPD are not on the Gilbridecase and to his knowledge the Maple Shade police had no leads.

- I could go into further detail but I believe I have sufficiently shed light on FOX News’irresponsible journalism. Just this year CBS’ Dan Rather was forced to resign formisrepresenting President Bush’s service record. FOX’s lies are honestly more critical thanthose against Bush-Bush simply risked another dent in his reputation. The potential impact ofFox News’ story is the imprisonment of innocent people and children losing their parents. Thatis important. Your company funds FOX News, making you responsible for the content of their program.
