Johanna Fernandez: RDACBX -State of Emergency – Solidarity with The Rebel Diaz Art Collective

Friends:

Last year, The Rebel Diaz Art Collective in the Bronx (RDACBX) put up a beautiful banner in the roof of their building that read FREE MUMIA 2012. They created the banner after having been inspired to continue the fight to free Mumia following our Occupy the Justice Department demonstration in DC on Mumia’s birthday, April 24, 2012. See attached.

Since then, they have been harassed by their landlord and accused by police of being responsible for the neighborhood’s graffiti. Today, RDBACBX has been shut down by marshalls and their slumlord. The authorities have used the banner issue to criminalize these brilliant social justice advocates, but their real purpose is advance a corporatist gentrification of this section of the Bronx.

Rebel Diaz needs our support and solidarity. Please read their message below.

In solidarity with The Rebel Diaz Art Collective,

Johanna Fernandez
