Vom Besuch Jean Zieglers im „Protestcamp der Flüchtlinge Votivkirche“ im Jänner 2013 und was er in der Folge unternahm
Leo Gabriel1) erzählte mir gestern, dass Jean Ziegler2) nach seinem Besuch des „Protestcamps der Refugees in der Votivkirche“ am 13. Jänner 2013 3) seinen guten Bekannten António Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, aufsuchte und ihn über die Flüchtlingssituation in Österreich und Wien informierte. Er erzählte ihm von der harten Flüchtlingspolitik der österreichischen Regierung und dem verzweifelten Hungerstreik der Flüchtlinge, die aus Pakistan, Afghanistan, Marokko usw. kommen, in denen Leib und Leben der Geflüchteten gefährdet waren und große Angst haben, dorthin abgeschoben zu werden.
In der Folge kontaktierte António Guterres den österreichischen UN-Botschafter in Genf, Christian Strohal, und konfrontierte ihn mit diesen Missständen in Österreich.
Was und ob der UN-Botschafter Strohal dann nach Wien gekabelt hat, ist weder Leo Gabriel noch mir bekannt.

Jean Ziegler visited the „Protest Camp of Refugees Votive Church“ in January 2013 and what he did afterwards
Leo Gabriel1) told me yesterday, that Jean Ziegler 2) after his visit of the „Protest Camp of Refugees in the Votive Church“ on 13 January 2013 3) he went to his good friend António Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees and informed him about the harsh refugee policy of the Austrian government and the desperate hunger strike of the refugees coming from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Morocco, etc., in which body and life of the refugees were at risk and they have great fear of being deported there.
As a consequence, António Guterres contacted the Austrian UN-ambassador in Geneva, Christian Strohal, and confronted him with these grievances in Austria.
What and if the UN Ambassador Strohal has cabled to Vienna, is known neither Leo Gabriel nor me.
