Dear friends,
I would like to thank you for your contribution to the international campaign of solidarity with the Greek 595 female cleaners.
This campaign has been a great success withvarious actions and solidarity demonstrations taking place in London, Paris, Toulouse, Marseille, Grenoble, Lille, Brussels, Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Geneva, Rabat, Lisbon, Valencia, Madrid, Alicante and Elche.
Decisive for the success of this campaign has been the contribution of Intersindical in Catalonia, Solidaires in France and the European Network of Alternative and Base Unions. The campaign was also supported by the UK’s leading trade union federations such as UNITE (3 million affiliates) and TUC (6 million affiliates), whose General Secretaries sent support messages.
It is also worth noting the substantial participation of women’s organizations and networks, (who sent their messages of support from around the world), as well as the presence of various social movements and cleaners’unions of some countries.
Unfortunately, this very rare international solidarity movement with a working class struggle has been totally ignored by the media of the left parties inGreece.
However, large daily reports of events of international solidarity were published by dozens of Greek sites.
Finally, on September 23, the Greek Supreme Court, which had to rule on the case of 595 maids decided to postpone its final decision till February (25.2.2015).
In solidarity
