Official statement concerning the duality of Non-Citizen-Citizen (Media Refugeeprotest)

Official Statement of the protesting Non-Citizens in the DGB building concerning the latest articles in newspapers about the influence of citizen activists on our opinions regarding the bringing forward of the fight

First of all it should be mentioned that it is not the first time that the populist and right publications of a few conservative media illustrate our position and our fight in a destructive manner. The attentive readers know that these publications on the one hand serve the right wing of the government as propaganda material and in the same time are supporting the hegemony made by government’s orders which shows again that this is a wage-related media inside the system without commitment to political principals of the independent journalism and unbiased communication.

In the history of this struggle especially because of these reasons the theory of the Citizen-Non-Citizen duality was developed in an attempt to prevent the interference of the citizen activists with their different ideologies, who tried to occupy the movement under a certain name or group during the protest marches to Berlin. In the root of the matter it was politically seen for the lowest part of the society, the refugees, a reclaiming of the position as subjects and the announcement of the end of the phase of being objects.

If those journalists would have made an effort and followed the only information sources of this movement which can be found on our official webpages and investigated the previous history of this movement and its literature, they would get to know our political view better and would not allow their superficial thoughts to write such texts. This perception that others from outside make decisions for us and others are thinking instead of us is not just disrespectful towards our mind and our awareness, but again the euro-centristic perspective which regards us only as objects.

To make a point we tell to such populist publications which are free from any political base: All the criticizing politicians and journalists who have this perspective or think that they can defend their ideas based on theoretic and academic sources are invited to a round table wherever with the presence of media and political academics for a direct debate. This invitation is coming from the point that we believe that we examine thesis in practice to find the practical synthesis given the existing antithesis for the continuation of our struggle – a procedure which we have practised during  the last one and half years.
