H. Yamamoto: Corea – Toward General Strike!

Dear our friends of the world,

Korean Railway Workers Union (KRWU), an affiliated union of Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), has carried through a 22-day historic strike and once returned to their workplaces on Dec, 31, last year to prepare 2nd stage of strike.

KCTU has held a massive rally on Dec. 28, last year, as 1st step upsurge to throw out the privatization plan of railway and overturn Park Geun-hye administration.

And on Jan. 3, around 800 union leaders of every industry gathered in Seoul and declared 2nd step rally on Jan. 9 and 3rd step on Jan. 18 to organize National General Strike of a people’s all-out revolt on the coming Feb. 25, the Park’s first anniversary in office.

The following video was aired at the above outdoor conference on Jan. 3.

This great struggle and strike is proving that it’s really possible to overturn neo-liberalism through the struggle against privatization and outsourcing, the last resort of neo-liberalism.
