Dear friends,
Our last edition announced that the European Commission rejected our request to register a European Citizens‘ Initiative (ECI). The battle however, will continue! We won’t allow the Commission to silence us and will continue our resistance to TTIP and CETA without their permission! We will challenge the EU Commission’s decision in the European Court of Justice and we will set-up a self-organised ECI. Democracy is not granted from above, it is made from below!
We are now adding the last changes to our online collection system and will start collection in early October. We will let you know as soon as we start signature collection! You will also be able to collect signatures offline by downloading templates from http://www.stop-ttip.org
In the past couple of weeks our campaign gathered support from over 240 civil society organisations in 22 EU member states. It is ironic that the European Commission, which often complains about the “lack of a European public”, is trying to stop this truly European movement in its tracks. We will continue to speak out against the Commission’s total lack of transparency in the negotiations and favouring of corporate interests over the common good. We will stay very public and very European in our opposition to TTIP and CETA!
The self-organised ECI against TTIP & CETA is independent and doesn’t take money from governments, political parties or big business. It relies on people’s donations. Let’s carry out the ECI as intended, ignoring the rejection! We have the legitimate right to do so. We as citizens have a matter to bring up with EU institutions, so over the next couple of month, we will carry out an ‚ECI from the bottom up‘. By standing strong, we the citizens of Europe can together stop TTIP and CETA.

Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde,
in unserer letzten Ausgabe haben wir bekanntgegeben, dass die Europäische Kommission unsere Registrierung der Europäischen Bürgerinitiative (EBI) abgelehnt hat. Der Kampf gegen TTIP und CETA ist aber noch nicht vorbei! Wir lassen uns von der Kommission nicht zum Schweigen bringen und machen einfach ohne ihre Erlaubnis weiter! Wir fechten die Entscheidung der Kommission vor dem Europäischen Gerichtshof an und führen die EBI selbstorganisiert durch. Demokratie wird nicht von oben gestattet, sondern sie wird von unten gemacht!
Momentan laufen die letzten Vorbereitungen für das Online-Sammelsystem, sodass die Unterschriftensammlung Anfang Oktober starten kann. Wir sagen Bescheid, sobald es losgeht! Unterschriften können nicht nur online, sondern auch auf Papier gesammelt werden. Die Listen dafür werden wir auf http://stop-ttip.org/de/ zur Verfügung stellen.
In den letzten Wochen hat unsere Kampagne die Unterstützung von mehr als 240 zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen aus 22 EU-Mitgliedstaaten erhalten. Es hat schon etwas Ironisches, dass die Europäische Kommission, die sich selbst oft über eine „fehlende europäische Öffentlichkeit“ beklagt, versucht, diese wirklich europäische Bewegung zu verhindern. Wir werden uns weiterhin gegen den Mangel an Transparenz in den Verhandlungen und den Vorrang von Konzerninteressen vor dem Gemeinwohl einsetzen. Wir bleiben öffentlich und europäisch in unserem Widerstand gegen TTIP & CETA!
Die selbstorganisierte EBI gegen TTIP & CETA ist unabhängig und bezieht keine Gelder von der Regierung, von Parteien oder großen Unternehmen. Daher sind wir auf Spenden angewiesen. Aktuell benötigen wir 40.000 Euro für die rechtliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Kommission und für zukünftige bereits geplante Aktionen im Rahmen der selbstorganisierten EBI! Notre dernière édition annonçait que la Commission européenne avait rejeté notre demande pour enregistrer l´Initiative Citoyenne Européenne. La bataille continue cependant! Nous ne permettrons pas la Commission de nous tenir au silence et nous continuerons notre combat, même sans leur permission! Nous allons défier la décision de la Commission Européenne devant la Cour de justice européenne et nous mettons en place une ICE auto-organisée. On n’impose pas de démocratie d´en-haut, celle-ci se construit par en-bas!
Nous apportons maintenant les derniers changements à notre système de collecte de signatures en ligne et commencerons celle-ci début octobre 2014. Vous pourrez aussi rassembler des signatures hors connexion, en téléchargeant les modèles qui seront postés sur http://stop-ttip.org/fr/
Ces dernières semaines, notre campagne a rassemblé le soutien de plus de 240 organisations de société civile dans 22 États membres de l’Union européenne. Il est ironique que la Commission européenne, que se plaint souvent „de l´absence d´un public européen“, essaye d´arrêter un mouvement vraiment européen, construit sur ses traces. Nous continuerons à nous prononcer contre le manque total de transparence de la Commission dans ces négociations et contre l’approbation d’intérêts d’entreprises sur l’intérêt général. Enfin, nous restons très ouverts et très européens dans notre opposition à TTIP et CETA!
L´auto-organisation de l´ICE contre TTIP et CETA est indépendante et ne prend pas de financement des gouvernements, des partis politiques ou des grandes entreprises. Il compte sur des donations des individus. Nous devons maintenant lever 40.000 EUROS pour l’action en justice et pour planifier des actions futures! Effectuons l’ICE, comme prévu, en ignorant le rejet! Nous avons le droit légitime de faire ainsi. Nous, comme des citoyens ont une question à soulever aux institutions de l’Union européenne, et dans les prochains mois, nous effectuerons une “ICE de bas en haut”. En étant debout fort, nous les citoyens européens, pouvons ensemble arrêter TTIP et CETA.
