Some comments on this document. For the four chapters, the small drafting group worked with four concerns:
1. avoid repetitions ;
2. try to be more brief;
3. simplify the presentation of „positioning“ by limiting it to 3 §: our analysis, a sentence that states the fundamental principle (in bold) on which we rely, and what we want in general;
4. start the 4 demand’s lists by the claim which seems – if not the most „essential“ – the most urgent and the most feasible in the short term.
Some footnotes page expose debates that took place in the drafting group. These footnotes should not remain in the version we will publicly release later this month! Thank you to examine this text carefully, but with a spirit of consensus. We need a common text, short and clear, limited to the essential, to develop the action of March, and to prepare June dynamic
These days, we have also worked:
• on funding (a letter about this will be sent to each organization in the coming days) and the possibility of having one or more persons working for Alter Summit a few months. A Coordinating Committee in late January or early February will be able to conclude on this point
• on the practical arrangements „court of the crisis“ and „European Tour of economists“
• on an updated version of the 4 pages folder distributed in Firenze
We must advance on the development of the website (with the committee Firenze 10 +10) and of the translation network.
We also work as decided to check with all the stakeholders, the feasibility of various feasibility conditions of the alter summit in Athens. We are still awaiting confirmation of the date for the action of March. However, please consider the next network meeting on 14-15 or 15-16 March in Brussels.
There is no doubt that 2013 will be a „historic“ year for Europe. It depends a little of us, our unity and our determination of whether this year will be another step towards recession, oligarchy and inequality, or whether it will be the beginning of another way for Europe.
